Back in August of this year, Surrey Ceramics were contracted by Sarah Weir MD of Albion and East regarding the supply of crockery for their new site, Martello Hall, Hackney, London, which they recently acquired and were busy working on.
Having seen our products in another London restaurant Sarah arranged a visit to the pottery – something we always highly recommend if our clients are able to do so. That way we can listen to and understand the specific requirements of our customers in terms of shape, colour, texture, design, menu presentation, etc. – while showing them around and discussing other elements or possibilities – an exchange of ideas.
Having gone through that process Sarah picked out shapes that sat well with the menu they would be offering, as well as adding a few different item requests. Coming to the finish, Sarah liked the natural element of the unglazed clay on Soho and asked if we could possibly do more of it on each piece? – we were happy to oblige. Also while walking around the building Sarah picked out one of our older glazes which matched in well with the design ethos – verdigris green, with further additions of soft logo enhancement on certain pieces the crockery requirement came together – you can see them in the picture below.
